A Pink and Purple Lotus grows out from a vibrant blue lily pad pond in this oil painting. I just love the way I was able to utilize all the cool blue, pink, green and purples in this scene to bring a harmony that Is not always part of the art i create. Then on top of it, I was able to spark a point of interest with the orange and yellow paint drawing the eye to the center of the flower. And by recognizing those warms hidden within the older parts of the lily pads, I was able to bring the warmth throughout the cool piece.

It's almost a contradiction of the visual senses, this oil painting. Centered around cools, but balanced with warms. But, at the same time it came together so nicely that it reminds me that opposites don't attract, they are actually a part of one another. This lotus floating among its lilies has quickly become a piece I turn to re-center and connect to my inner self. Painting flowers and playing with color and light has always been an expression that allows me to say what I am unable to with words. But even better, these works of art help me tap into parts of my mind that I cannot with my rational mind. I hope that this piece speaks to you in a way that helps guide you to untap your own hidden depth and find more of yourself, within yourself.
