Jamaican Sunset Oil on Birch Board

The original Jamaican Sunset Oil Painting is inspired by a rare trip to the Caribbean Island of Jamaica.I am pretty sure its clear what inspired the painting of this art. Just look at the colors in that sunset and how the clouds dance around it. It almost seems like the skies were framing the sun, just for me to paint. I really love painting brilliantly beautiful skies with a rainbow of reds, oranges and blues. And on that day, the Jamaican skies gave me just that, along with dancing greens in the shadows to add even more color.

There is something so magical about the way our skies dance and play with light and color. Nature manages to create such softness with subtle shifts and sparkles of light, yet it manages to carry with it so much power. For this piece I knew I wanted to capture that magical display of color, so that when viewers gaze upon it they are transported off the island jungle and into the warm skies that we all share. Truly stunning.
