Engulfed | Gloss Poster

Engulfed was painted with a lot of passion and fire in the moment. But upon reflecting on the piece, I am reminded of the importance of perspective. More importantly the effect the surroundings (hence the name engulfed) make on the subject of our attention. In this piece, the neutral cloud brightness changes based on what surrounds it. Surrounded by the fire, it becomes dark and surrounded by dark clouds, it becomes light.

A visual reminder that while we have extreme moments of passion and others of shadow, they are evened out with those peaceful ever steady moments. It's those balanced areas of art and life that rise and fall to meet the needs of our experience. So I offer to you Engulfed, a piece of passion, but also one to remind us of the serenity that we hold within always.
