Snow 11/11

Well, it looks like we had our first snow, nothing too major, just a light dust, but it marks the start of winter for me. I really do love snow, its the cold and wet isnt too fun for the other 85% of winter lol. Also, omg you should see the people around here when it snows. They all lose their minds, XD, seriously. I avoid driving at all costs on the first day of snow because of peoples reactions. It like all of a sudden they forgot how to drive normally. Heck, the road is warm enough it melts almost instaly but they all drive around like they are sliding alongside some penguins XD. Uhhhhhh you all know you live in PA right, this happens every year, how are you this surprised XD. It’s kind of cute, but also, no thanks, I’ll stay home and enjoy watching it from my nice toasty window.

Its like people associate snow with mess and danger and all that, and while i get it, its just a shame they forgot the joy of snow. When I used to live up in the mountains I loved it. Their were feet of snow for months, and not that hard wet crap, but the fluffy powdery fun. I would go hiking into the forest for hours, following deer tracks, finding little animal cubby holes, discovering spots where little fawns slept the night before, oh its so beautiful. Then you have the added fun of being able to just jump into the air and land in the poofy white stuff whenver you felt in the mood. Its like landing in a cloud hahaha. I remember one time I went quadding with a few freinds and we built a ramp up a snow bank. We would drive full speed up the ramp then jump off mid air and go flying into a big pile of snow, just cracking up. I wonder what this winter will bring, but I look forward to hiking after nice solid snow and exploring a wonderland where the only human footprints found are mine.

The Sky

You know, I laugh at the people because they forget what snow is, but in the same breath, I forget just how beautiful the cool winter sky is. When you put the brilliant ranbow of the sky against the warm neutrals of the reddish brown forests rolling across the landscape everything just pops with color. And you would think that walking through those forest would be a little bland, but its anything but. All of a sudden you see brilliantly red cardinals, spotted woodpeckers, the little critters that all used to be grey and invisible, suddenly glowing orange and warm. Its just so interesting how things can be so different when the world that surrounds them changes, not because they actually change but because their inherent traits have a new world to shine through.

Oof this is making me want to go exploring hahaha. I cant wait. On top of that, I am really excited because I now have a bunch of new skies I want to paint. It was a bit crazy busy because of the fall rush stuff, but now that it is slowing down I know I will sneak in time to get some creativity flowing in paint. I want to try these wide panels but I only cut out one piece of birch to do it (actually was  scrap that I remade into the new format) so I might have to explore a bit before I dive into it. Plus, not really sure how I will Alla Prima something that big, but hey thats half the fun of doing it XD. Just pop on some wintery lofi and vanish into creation, ooooo i cant wait haha.
